This design is based on Cratena peregrina, a nudibranch that is found endemically in the mediterranean sea. The polyps they eat are used both as a food source and defence, as they don’t digest the sting capsules, but transport them to the cerata on their backs. As they feed mostly on Polyps, that just fished for plankton, eating both the captured plankton and the polyps.
I observed this species during dives in the Mediterranean, inspiring this design.
Each item is made to order and embroidered on organic cotton garments— turning an underwater encounter into something you can wear. For questions or customisation requests, please get in touch through contact@sunnyseaembroidery.de.
