This design is based on Felimare picta, even though the photo I took underwater and the design I embroidered look like different species. Felimare picta changes color with age, going from darkblue, almost black, to a pale blue/violett. I observed this species during dives in the Mediterranean, inspiring this design. Due to the large size of this older individual, the buddys I dove with on that particular dive actually managed to see the nudibranch that I was excitedly showing them - something that doesn’t happen too often, as most nudibranchs are really small and you need to know to focus on the tiny animals.
